Taylor Swift To Raise Money For Tornado Victims With Public ...

Taylor SwiftTaylor Swift is turning her last tour rehearsal into a benefit to raise funds for tornado victims in the U.S. before she heads out on a new trek around the globe.

Nearly 300 lives were lost when severe storms swept across America last week and the Love Story hit-maker has vowed to help by inviting more than 12,000 fans to join her for a show in Tennessee on May 21st.
The event, called Speak Now... Help Now, will give fans a glimpse of the superstar's new world tour before it officially kicks off in Nebraska on May 27th.
Swift tells the Associated Press, "I was watching the coverage of the tornadoes backstage at rehearsals, and I wanted to do something for the families affected by the damage. I've never opened a rehearsal to the public before, but I felt that inviting my fans to the last rehearsal for the Speak Now tour would be a great way to raise money."

"We will probably still be doing some fine-tuning to the show that night, since this will be a true rehearsal, but I feel like it is so important for me and my fans to help if we can."

OFFSTAGE: Taylor Swift Isn't "Mean" at All, Director Says - CMT

Taylor Swift (CMT Offstage keeps a 24/7 watch on everything that's happening with country music artists behind the scenes and out of the spotlight.)

Although Taylor Swift's new single, "Mean," brilliantly calls out someone who cruelly points out her flaws, video director Declan Whitebloom told me that the country singer was a pleasure to work with. He believes that Swift effortlessly embodies beauty and she has incredible taste in the audio as well as the visual. "After I wrote my treatment, her management called me to tell me she liked it, because it was so evocative of the one already in her mind," Whitebloom said in his charming British accent. "We got on really well. It's rare when you connect with an artist that quickly, but we share a quirky, offbeat sense of humor." They must have been on the same page, because from the way Whitebloom described the video, conventional it ain't. "She was keenly involved in writing the treatment, casting and wardrobe. And she stayed for both the 15-hour shooting days, even when she wasn't in the scenes," he told me. They shot it last month at the Orpheum Theatre in Los Angeles, with a big cast, period costumes and about nine different sets. Whitebloom talked about vignettes from all different time periods, from the vaudevillian to kind of an O Brother, Where Art Thou? type of scene. "It's going to be almost like watching a Broadway show," he promised. "You may even need to watch it several times to take it all in." It sounds like Swift does almost everything in the video, but what I'm most looking forward to is seeing her play the ganjo. And asking over and over, "Why you gotta be so mean?"

Being held on May 21 at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, 13,000 fans can try to get tickets on Taylor's website beginning May 9 - with all of the proceeds going straight to disaster relief.

Of the initiative, the 21-year-old told, “I was watching the coverage of the tornadoes backstage at rehearsals, and I wanted to do something for the families affected by the damage. I’ve never opened a rehearsal to the public before, but I felt that inviting my fans to the last rehearsal for the Speak Now Tour would be a great way to raise money. Taylor Swift Invites Fans to Tour Rehearsal to Aid Tornado Relief ...

jpstudios.com

Taylor Swift has announced she will give her fans a chance to see her Speak Now tour before it officially kicks off later this month. The singer will open the last dress rehearsal on May 21 as a fundraiser with all proceeds going to the victims of last week's devastating tornadoes in the Southeast.

For the special event, titled Speak Now ... Help Now!, approximately 13,000 people will get the chance to see Taylor's full show at Nashville's Bridgestone Arena, one week before the North American leg of the superstar's Speak Now world trek kicks off May 27 in Omaha, Neb.

"I was watching the coverage of the tornadoes backstage at rehearsals, and I wanted to do something for the families affected by the damage," says Taylor. "I've never opened a rehearsal to the public before, but I felt that inviting my fans to the last rehearsal for the Speak Now tour would be a great way to raise money."

Numerous tornadoes raged through seven states in the south, including the hardest hit, Alabama, killing 329 people and literally destroying numerous businesses, schools and homes.

Taylor generously donated to relief efforts in Japan, New Zealand and Australia earlier this year, while she donated to various Nashville flood relief efforts last year. She also performed during 2010's Nashville Rising benefit concert, organized by Tim McGraw and Faith Hill.

The reigning ACM Entertainer of the Year, who has been in rehearsals with her band for the last few weeks, forewarns the fans that there might be some changes during the show, as it is still a rehearsal. "We'll probably still be doing some fine-tuning to the show that night, since this will be a true rehearsal," she notes, "but I feel like it is so important for me and my fans to help if we can."

Ticketing information and Speak Now ... Help Now! details will be available and updated beginning Monday (May 9) at Taylor's official website. One-hundred percent of all ticket sales will go directly to help tornado victims.

The country-pop star announced Friday she is opening the final dress rehearsal of her Speak Now World Tour to fans as a benefit for victims devastated by last month's string of deadly tornadoes that hit several Southern states and caused hundreds of deaths.

Dubbed “Speak Now … Help Now!,” the May 21 benefit show at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena will offer 13,000 fans a glimpse of Swift’s tour nearly a week early.

“I was watching the coverage of the tornadoes backstage at rehearsals, and I wanted to do something for the families affected by the damage,” Swift said in a statement. “I’ve never opened a rehearsal to the public before, but I felt that inviting my fans to the last rehearsal for the Speak Now Tour would be a great way to raise money."

Swift and her crew have been working songs out in the arena for the last five weeks, she said. More details are expected to be announced on her official site Monday, but 100% of ticket sales for the show will go directly to aid victims.

The North American leg of her Speak Now World Tour 2011 kicks off May 27 in Omaha, Neb., and she is scheduled to play four dates at the Staples Center in August.

“We’ll probably still be doing some fine-tuning to the show that night, since this will be a true rehearsal,” she said, “but I feel like it is so important for me and my fans to help if we can.”

Taylor Swift's 'Hey Stephen' Inspiration Returns the Favor ...

Stephen Barker Liles and Taylor SwiftIn 2008, Taylor Swift's then-just-released album, 'Fearless,' became a monster hit and garnered lots of attention not only for the singer but for the subjects of her deeply personal songs.

One such tune was 'Hey Stephen,' which included dreamy, romantic lines such as, "I can't help it if you look like an angel / Can't help it if I wanna kiss you in the rain" and "come feel this magic I've been feeling since I met you."

Taylor revealed later that the song's inspiration was Stephen Barker Liles of the group Love and Theft, whom the then-teenaged superstar cited as one of her favorite bands.

After the endless scrutinizing of Taylor's body of work became a favorite national pastime, the then-trio released their debut album, and naturally, the song came up in conversation with them often.

What many fans may not realize is that Stephen had also been writing a song about Taylor at the time.

"It was a weird moment," Stephen tells Planet Verge. "Because I wasn't expecting her to say she wrote a song for me and I think it was a mutual thing on her end, too. She asked me what the words were so I only told her a little bit. I was like, 'This world is goin' crazy, but baby what do you say we try to make it anyway?' And that was that."

Well, not exactly. Stephen made a recording of the song and filmed a homemade video to go with it.

"I did the recording in the studio I have in my house and filmed the video in my backyard, in my barn actually," he says. "My buddy Aaron Thomas helped me out with all of that. I really just love songwriting and this song has become one of my favorite songs I've ever written."

Although Brian Bandas left the group at the end of 2010, Stephen says he and now-duo partner Eric Gunderson have been in the studio, recording material with producer Josh Leo for a new label.

"Lord willing, we'll be putting out a new song real soon," he notes. "We'll be making those announcements here in the next few weeks, so everything is moving forward and we're really stoked about the new direction we're going."

(RTTNews) - Taylor Swift is sending a message to mothers on their special day. The singer composed a song for her mom called "The Best Day," which will be included as a CD single in an exclusive American Greetings card.

Meanwhile, the singer is also premiering the video for her song "Mean" on Friday night. The vid was shot at the Orpheum Theatre in Los Angeles over the course of two days.

Declan Whitebloom directed, while Swift herself drew up the concept. "Mean" was debuted on April 3 at the ACM awards, where Swift took home the Entertainer of the Year award.

HollywoodNews.com: Some celebrities are taking the time to send their love and support to those who are currently victims of the recent tornado damage.

Taylor Swift, Kristin Chenoweth and Khloe Kardashian all addressed the tragedy over Twitter, states UsMagazine.com. “We’re at rehearsals watching videos of the tornados in Tuscaloosa. Our love and hopes and thoughts and prayers go out to everyone affected,” Swift commented.

“My prayers are with the tornado victims in Alabama,” Kardashian wrote.

And Chenoweth echoed a similar sentiment: “Tornado victims, my love [and prayers go] out to you.”

In a major step of support, Reba McEntire has reportedly planned an Oklahoma Tornado Relief concert for May 26th that will help those who are suffering from the damage done.

Taylor Swift's A Fan Of Nicki Minaj, Rihanna, 50 Cent - MTV

Taylor Swift was recently snapped by the prying paparazzi lenses doing something quite shocking. No, she wasn't stumbling out of a nightclub or caught wearing a skirt and no underwear — rather, the pop superstar was photographed buying stuff at Target.

"I'm spending a few weeks out in L.A. 'cause I have video shoots and stuff to do, so I needed to go buy a record player and they have really good ones at Target," she explained to Jay Leno when she stopped by "The Tonight Show" on Tuesday night. "I've been listening to a lot of music on vinyl. It makes it an event."

During her interview, Swift said that she's been spinning some unexpected tunes. "I listen to everything. Right now I'm listening to a lot of 50 Cent and Nicki Minaj and Keri Hilson and Rihanna," she revealed. "I'm listening to a lot of rap, hip-hop music right now."

Swift may have love for hip-hop, but on Sunday night she was honored for her work in country music when she was awarded the Entertainer of the Year prize at the Academy of Country Music Awards. "I am still really just blown away and so excited that the fans have been so nice to me," she explained to Leno. "It's been a really good week. We came back from our tour in Europe and Asia and we had one day in Nashville. Nashville's where I live and I love it more than anywhere in the world and one of the reasons for that is because in Nashville, country music award shows are like the Super Bowl. I was out and about on my day off ... and everywhere I would go someone would tap me on the shoulder [and wish me good luck]."

Swift admitted that she did have a good omen the night of the ceremony ... she saw her lucky number, 13, pop up mid-show. "The night of the award show they were announcing the nominees for Album of the Year. And they showed Kenny Chesney ... and as they're playing a clip of his video it shows a football player running towards the screen with a '13' on his jersey... and it ended up being good [for me]," she explained.

And, while it doesn't seem like Swift will slow down anytime soon in terms of her music career, she told Leno that she does have a backup plan: hairstyling. "Because we were on the tour for two months... you're on the road and you get bored," she recalled. "So I cut [my bandmate's] hair [and] she looked awesome and so I started cutting all the people on the road's hair."

Would you let Taylor cut your hair? Tell us in the comments.

Sam Concepcion is ecstatic about his front act for Taylor Swift's Asian tour - Philippine Entertainment Portal

Sam Concepcion is ecstatic about his front act for Taylor Swift

"I think one shouldn't be here in this business for the race. I'm not in a rush for anything and I'm just living one day at a time and learning from each experience. I'm really blessed and I'm really thankful for what happened," says Sam Concepcion (above) on his good fortune. He was personally handpicked by American country singer Taylor Swift (inset) to open her concert in Manila and to do the front act for her whole Asian tour.

"Yes, I'm a fan. She's the most likeable person, ever!" Sam Concepcion exclaimed when asked if he's a fan of American country singer Taylor Swift.

The multi-talented Sam was personally handpicked by Taylor Swift to open her much-awaited Taylor Swift Live in Manila concert on February 19 at the Araneta Coliseum.

PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) talked to Sam this morning, February 4, during the meet-and-greet with Jollibee's Yumbassadors at Bistro Filipino at The Fort, Taguig City.

Aside from Sam, other Yumbassadors include Bam Aquino, NiƱo Alcantara, Miro Frances Capili, Reese Fernandez, and Carmela Lao.

FRONT ACT. According to Sam, he wasn't really expecting the front-act stint.

"I was told that Taylor Swift was looking for a front act for her concert. I tried out. But I didn't hear anything from them for so long. So, I'm like 'It's okay.' Then... I was thrilled when Renen [De Guia, concert producer] called up my manager [Carlo Orosa] who called me and said, 'You got it! But there's more...'"

Sam paused for effect, "[He told me], 'You will do the front act for her whole Asian tour.' I was floored!"

How is he preparing for the upcoming, much-awaited concert?

"I'm still in the process of picking out songs... rehearsing some songs," he said.

Could this be the break he has been waiting for on the international music scene?

"I hope so," Sam said, smiling.

However, he stressed that the stint itself is already a big blessing for him.

"I think one shouldn't be in this business for the race.

"I'm not in a rush for anything and I'm just living one day at a time and learning from each experience.

"I'm really blessed and I'm really thankful for what happened.

"As I always say, everything happens at the right time and I know everything will work out if it is the right time.

"So, I'm making the most out of each day and leaving it all up to God. I'm not in a rush for anything.

"I've been really thankful. I feel blessed just to be able to perform onstage here," he said.

NO VALENTINE YET. Meanwhile, when PEP asked the 18-year-old heartthrob about his Valentine plans, he just smiled and said, "No... none yet."

But added, "But hopefully soon."
