MTV Angered by Taylor Swift's Kanye West Song at VMAs - Limelife

Taylor Swift appears to be receiving all favorable reviews for her performance at MTV's Video Music Awards this week, but we've heard that MTV itself was a little up-in-arms. First of all, Taylor Swift went against MTV's recommendation to do a Kanye duet, and then she left the audience feeling "uncomfortable," says a new report.
Taylor Swift's public forgiveness of Kanye West through the public performance of a song did seem a little...strange. At first we applauded her maturity and willingness to tell Kanye she forgives him, but now that we're hearing what happened behind the scenes, Taylor's move sounds to have been a little self-serving.

We caught this from E! via Celebitchy late Tuesday:
"Certain MTV execs were not pleased with Ms. Swift's performance-or lack-there-of, as it might be. Not only did her appearance leave some viewers scratching their heads, but Tay also shied away from a proposed duet between the two superstars-according to impeccable MTV sources. Keep in mind this was never an official duet planned by the hip network, but, merely one several key MTV players were very much pushing for."
It's said that after Taylor's performance, the live audience inside the Nokia Theater was completely silent...because they were confused. MTV bigwigs are said to have been stunned too, because according to reports, Taylor never told them what her performance would consist of until it was almost time for her to go out onstage. By that time it's said she and Kanye formed a truce backstage...but she didn't want him out there as part of the show.

We'll agree, Kanye West took enough of Taylor Swift's stage time in 2009; but it's pretty obvious why things went down the way they did. The song Taylor sang Sunday night is on her new album that's set to come out in late October. Looks like she wanted us all to hear it so, you know, we'd go out and buy it.

Selena Gomez Talks New Album, Taylor Swift - The Gossip Girls

It’s a big week for Selena Gomez - tomorrow (September 21) she releases her new album A Year Without Rain, and she already has Taylor Swift's stamp of approval.
The “Wizards of Waverly Place” babe told press, “It was so funny, I got to see her and we played each other both of our records, and I was so excited. I'm so excited for her record 'cause it's amazing. But then she heard mine and it's so funny 'cause she's very passionate and she's very dramatic — which I think is why we're friends because we're both dramatic — but she has her favorites already."
Selena continued, "She likes 'Rock God and 'Ghost of You' a lot. But she definitely danced and had her little thing. She's completely honest with me, so it was nice to have her feedback."
As for Taylor’s new album Speak Now, Gomez gushed, "Her album is going to be awesome. I think people are gonna be really surprised. It's not different [but] you just don't really believe she could top it, in a way. She took her style and made it bigger. It's going to be really good."

NEW YORK (AP) — Taylor Swift is the latest act to offer bonus album content to an exclusive retailer.
The country superstar is aligning herself with Target Corp. for the release of her latest album, "Speak Now." The store will offer fans three additional songs, remixed tunes and video content when the album is released Oct. 25.
Swift says she tries to give fans bonuses whenever she can, so she is happy to oblige with her third album.
"Speak Now" is the follow-up to her Grammy-winning, mult iplatinum CD "Fearless." The first single, "Mine," has hit the country chart's top 20. She debuted the song "Innocent" — about last year's MTV Video Music Awards debacle — at this year's VMAs.

Selena Gomez thinks Taylor Swift's new album is 'amazing'.
Good friends Selena and Swift, 20, both have new albums on the way and Selena has given her pal's record her seal of approval.
The Ramona and Beezus star told MTV News: "It was so funny, I got to see her and we played each other both of our records, and I was so excited.
"I'm so excited for her record 'cause it's amazing but then she heard mine and it's so funny because she's very passionate and dramatic - which I think is why we're friends because we're both dramatic."
The 18-year-old, whose album is called A Year Without Rain, continued to speak highly of Taylor's 'bigger' record - Speak Now.
She added: "Her album is going to be awesome, I think people are gonna be really surprised.
"It's not different [but] you just don't really believe she could top it, in a way - she took her style and made it bigger."

“I like to categorize the various levels of heartbreak. I’ve only had that happen once. A letdown is worth a few songs. A heartbreak is worth a few albums.”
